Why Hire a Professional Photographer?

With a changing landscape of built-in phone cameras and capable cameras at consumer disposal, it is a question that comes to mind when considering your photographic needs for important life events such as, weddings, birthdays, graduate & professional headshots, & portraiture. Why hire a professional photographer? A professional photographer should possess years of training, a strong knowledge of using their equipment to capture photos with their unique style which clients desire, and have a common knowledge of the business and legal aspects of operating a photographic business. Often times the misconception is the more expensive the equipment the more professional the images will be. This unfortunately does not always translate into good images - consideration of lens selection, lighting techniques inclusive of direction, intensity, and quality of light do play a considerable part in the feel of the final picture. But more importantly as a painter decides what elements to include on their canvas, a photographer paints with light in the camera frame and decides what element to include - often referred to as composition. It is this very reason that a group of people taking a picture of the same subject yields endless picture variations of the same subject. It boils down to individual vision.
