To Look or Not Look? That is the question...
Anyone you talk to will tell you it is bad luck to see the bride before the day of the wedding. Superstition or is there a thread of truth to this? In medieval times it was probably true. Arranged marriages of powerful monarchs were a link to create alliances and prevent wars. In those days if the prince did not approve of his future wife's appearance or vice a versa, the possibility of running away to avoid the marriage was common. This was true in many cultures where a bride or a groom had no say in terms of who they married and certainly not because of love. In modern times people have a choice to make on who they want to spend the rest of their life with and because of a little thing called "love". Often times couples have had the opportunity to see each other at their best and possibly at their worst and yet has agreed to grow old together by vowing to love and care for each other no matter what. Therefore to Look or Not to Look is not a great a question as it was in medieval times, nor is it of superstition or bad luck. It is a choice to see the one they love before the wedding an emotional moment before the festivities of the day. In fact love is not as little as we think - It is the greatest!
